Celie and Nettie
Their relationship symbolizes a strong love. The “only person” who loved celie (as celie said). Their relationship was one of the only ones that was constant throughout the whole book. This may sound strange since they weren't physically together for most of the novel, but they were on each other's minds every day. Their bond stays prevalent through Netties letter that Mr ___ hides from Celie. Through all that they have been together as sisters, they truly have an unbreakable love. One can see that Nettie was always on Celie's mind as she was often in the letters she wrote to G-d, and eventually started writing letters that were addressed to Nettie.
These sisters would do anything for each other. A prime example of this is when Celie convinces Mr___ to take her instead of Nettie. Celie didn't want Nettie to have to go through such a hard life with an abusive person like Mr___ and she didn't want Nettie to have any sort of pain in her life. Little did she know, being separated from Celie caused her A LOT of pain. Nettie also helped Celie on her journey to become independent and strong. |
