Albert and His Father
Even though the scenes are small between Albert and his Father, readers can really take away a lot. Albert's father makes him believe that women are only good for their role as women, nothing else. Albert grew up in an extremely traditional home, where his father did not respect women. Even though readers can see that eh does not try to be like his father, Alberts actions towards Celie prove that history is repeating itself. But at the same time, his father really was a prominent role model for him, which is why Albert became the ignorant and self centered person he is. Readers can feel sympathy towards Albert though in his situation with his father because readers see that Albert never really had to chance to be better as his father wanted his son to fulfill his own interests. Albert used to know how to love, (readers can see this through Nettie and Shug) but not anymore.
